Morris 1000 Van – South African Import & Stunning
The Morris 1000 saloon designed by Alec Issigonis was introduced at the Earls Court Motor Show in 1948 and the 5cwt commercial van followed in 1953. Used and abused by large and small businesses survivors in good condition are rare and rust free examples like this almost impossible to find
Welcome to the sale of our 1971 Morris 1000 van originally exported to South Africa as a CKD “knock-down” kit for assembly locally. This lovely light commercial was a personal import to the UK by a Morris enthusiast in 2006 who wanted a corrosion free example to add to his personal collection house at “Morris Manor”
The large history file demonstrates regular care/ servicing including an engine rebuild in South Africa (2004), replacement rear axle (2012) and replacement roof gutters and paint (2013). Today the car runs faultlessly, sounds superb, with that well know Morris 1000 “purp” from the side exhaust, and looks absolutely stunning in Old English White with replacement red interior/ mats.
Three years ago we sold this lovely van to a traditional picture framer who used her as a promotional vehicle. She drives remarkably well, always starts first time, keeps up well with modern traffic and is only on the market due to the retirement.
We urge early viewing of this stunning Morris 1000 van that is the best we have seen having escaped the ravages of English winters for over 30years. She is ready to be employed again for promotional work or simply used and enjoyed providing the lucky new owner with much pleasure for many years to come.
