The Appeal
Produced between 1958 and 1963, the TD21 was the well-received revision of the TD 108G, and boasted some vital upgrades over its predecessor. Key amongst which was sleek, lightweight bodywork by Park Ward, along with an upgraded drivetrain, and modernized mechanics.

The History and Paperwork

As is commonly the case with Alvis vehicles, this TD21 is absolutely packed with rich history and boasts quite an interesting past. Believed to be one of just three Irish examples, this TD21 was originally ordered in 1961, sporting Old English White paintwork. In 1965, it is believed that the first keeper then resprayed the vehicle in red, and treasured it for many more years.
The vehicle would eventually make its way to the previous keeper, who held this Alvis for over 25 years, and then finally to the current keeper. The current keeper has since maintained the vehicle as part of a collection, opting to retain the Irish registration in honour of the vehicle’s unique history. Now, the vehicle awaits its next home, where it will no doubt be the talking point of any collection.
The Condition

In true Alvis fashion, the TD 21 is a truly handsome vehicle, showcasing sleek Park Ward coachwork, and exuding class at every angle. This particular example is of course no exception, arguably standing out from the crowd further due to its striking red paintwork, wire-spoke wheels, and cream leather interior.
As the vehicle boasts no known restoration work, it is believed that the vast majority of the vehicle remains untouched from its factory specification, save for a respray in 1965. Clearly subject to tremendous care across its few owners, the vehicle remains in very impressive condition today, with shiny paintwork, lightly aged brightwork, and a rather well-preserved interior.
There are of course signs of age and wear to note, including light chrome pitting, age-related paintwork defects and a crack upon the dashboard, but these are rather minimal when compared to the vehicle’s age, and impressive finish.
The Mechanics
Powered by a 3L straight six, paired with a four-speed manual gearbox

For such a comfortable and lavish saloon, the TD21 certainly is no slouch, offering a top speed of around 100mph, and a 0-60mph time of around 14 seconds. This is of course thanks to a mighty 2993 cc straight-six hiding under the bonnet, which is said to fire up right away and perform without fault.
The excellent engine and mechanical health can likely be attributed to both the vehicle’s low mileage and its excellent maintenance records. In more recent times, the vehicle has received a full service with fluids and spark plugs, as well as a new clutch slave cylinder to remedy a previous clutch slip. Now, the vehicle is said to perform without known fault, offering many enjoyable miles ahead for the lucky new keeper.
Summary
The TD21 is arguably one of Alvis’s finest creations and is a prime example of post-war British engineering, and design. This particular example does the marque proud, retaining a great deal of original components, with a well preserved leather interior, sleek red bodywork, and impressive mechanical health.
