The Appeal
The GT6 transformed Triumph’s tiny Spitfire into a car that previously nobody knew that they in fact really wanted - a svelte fastback mini-grand tourer with serious performance. Over 40,000 found buyers, of which the earliest and purest ‘Mk1’ proved the most popular.
Looking at this pretty British Racing Green 1967 car it’s easy to see why. It’s one of the best-looking British sports cars of the era, here enhanced by a set of now-rare 4.5J steels with chrome centres.
The vendor built this car from the chassis up after his original Mk1 was written off. He used some of the part from that car, plus a low mileage donor, to create the lovely GT6 you can see in the photos. There is a long list of work covering mechanicals, body and interior, which is documented in invoices and described below. The vendor tells us that this car is a two-keeper example and the mileage of under 48,000 miles is correct. The service history supports that, although it isn’t warranted.
This is a really impressive car that we’re not surprised to hear wows show visitors. Its clearly been lovingly built and properly looked after. Here’s a chance to become its third keeper in 59 years.
The vendor says:
“The odometer reading of 47k miles is genuine from the original KOB car with just one former keeper. It has been lovingly used and garaged since the 1980 rebuild.
“The Heritage Certificate confirms the date of manufacture plus the correct engine and chassis combination.
“This car is a real head turner - especially as there are so few left on the road. It has been on display at several car rallies and shows.”
