The Azure was the ultimate Bentley convertible, hand built at Crewe between 1995 and 2009, it was a last hoorah for the faithful and traditional 6. 75-litre V8 engine. The model was continuously developed over its 15-year production run with the final version launched in the 2006 model year.
The revised Azure was now based on the Arnage platform and power was provided by the, then-current, variant of the Bentley turbocharged V8 making 450 hp and 645 lb·ft of torque. The new Arnage was initially designed for the BMW 4. 4-litre engine, however, due to a strained relationship between the two manufacturers, Volkswagen was forced to significantly re-work the original 6. 75-litre Rolls-Royce/ Bentley V8 into a new twin-turbo, ultra modern technology spec and a new six-speed automatic transmission fed all this power to the rear wheels. Bentley claimed a 0 to 60 time of 5. 6 seconds and a top speed of 168 mph, slightly faster than the previous edition and still very good for a vehicle of this size and weight.
This Azure is beautifully finished in Fountain Blue, the paintwork is in excellent order throughout and gleams in the sunshine. As you will see from our photographs, the Azure looks magnificent from every angle, hood up or down! The beautifully thought out bodylines break up the panels and give a somewhat sleek look to this Bentley.
The roof is also in great condition, finished in contrasting dark blue mohair and proving convertible roofs can look great open or closed.
When you open the door you are met by an abundance of Linen coloured hide and Burr Maple Wood, all of course in fine order. The seats are fluted and double stitched around the outside. All gauges and functions are in working order.
Only 29, 000 miles have been covered in this fine example, she comes to us with full service history all of being by main dealers or specialists. The Last service was completed just over 1, 000 miles ago by marque specialist Silver Chalice.
