1949 Allard M Type V8 Drophead Coupe
A rare and charismatic post-war British sports car from one of the most individual marques of the era.
Built between 1947 and 1949, with production believed to be around just 500 cars, the Allard M Type was Sydney Allard’s answer to fast, effortless grand touring. Lightweight, muscular and unmistakably purposeful, it combined British coachwork with the proven power of the 3. 6-litre Ford V8, delivering strong performance and a wonderfully engaging driving experience.
This 1949 example has benefitted from a substantial restoration carried out to a very high standard during current ownership. The car presents beautifully throughout, finished in an elegant metallic grey that suits the model perfectly. A new, high-quality hood has been fitted very recently, further enhancing both usability and overall presentation.
With its long bonnet, compact proportions and thunderous V8 character, the Allard M Type remains one of the most evocative and underrated British sporting cars of the late 1940s. Rare, usable and hugely entertaining, this is a car that always draws interest wherever it appears.
