Immaculate condition 1928 Humber . This charming six cylinder vintage humber represents excellent value compared to so many so called classics at over inflated prices. From the days when most cars were driven by chauffeurs, hence getting in and out from passenger side . This 1928 car has had a small fortune spent to get it to the standard it is . As the extensive history file shows inc photos . It has had a full engine rebuild and maintains excellent oil pressure and doesnt leak , which is rare. The 4 speed box changes as it should , slowly, but as it should . The original wind up choke button, the advance and retard and fast idle on the steering wheel all work . The gauges all work inc the fuel . The original gravity fed fuel system is all working correctly with a fuel tap to prevent flooding whilst stood. Original 12 volt the car starts very well and once warmed up tickover can hardly be heard , amazing !
The original wire wheels are in 1st class condition having been powder coated and the tyres have done hardly any miles. The Red and Black paintwork is excellent having been repainted recently,, the doors all open and shut perfectly . The Ash frame was replaced during restoration.
Having had a misshap with a fan heater being left on the humber has had a whole new interior refurb inc wool carpets, wood veneer, door panels with period trim and all seats etc recovered . All done at the expense of insurance company so no corners cut . The interior is as good as it looks in the pics . Some lovely period features such as smokers hatch which works perfectly , front fold out screen , original wiper motor and venting in the roof. Original rear luggage rack with fold down lights and number plate when in use , ready for that period picnic basket !. The original sidemount spare wheel is lovely. the original jack is under the bonnet . The radiator cowl is of solid nickel and polishes up a treat. The fuel tank is an exact copy of the original but wont rust as is galvanised . The starter motor is new as is the battery box and battery .
The history file is extensive with original buff log book , many pics of restoration and of the interior mishap .
As with every vintage vehicle please dont expect a new car , now 90 years old . The condition is remarkable but it will drive like a 1928 vehicle so can take a few miles to get used to .
Would make an excellent wedding vehicle with its opposing opening doors for those all important photos . or just enjoy for shows and picnics .
