The Appeal 

Porsche’s ‘continuous evolution’ mantra led to the more luxurious G-Series and then the introduction of the aluminium 3litre air cooled engine.  
The SC also got the wider Carrera body style and could be specified with many of the features of the classic 930 Turbo, like the ‘Whale Tail.’ That was not just there for aesthetics, it served a much-needed purpose: pushing the wayward rear onto the tarmac at higher speeds.  
Alongside the more stand-out red colours, buyers could specify subtle Lago Green, a metallic hue that suits the classic lines as this car shows. It features that 3litre motor, black Fuchs, the Whale Tail and the versatile Targa roof and is in superb condition inside and out. Well specified and ready to enjoy, it is sure to be in demand.

  • 4,831 SC coupes and Targas were built in 1980 and this is car number 2,949

The Condition  

  • Finished in very appealing Lago Green metallic with contrasting cream interior 
  • Condition inside and out is very good with few signs of its age or use 
  • Bodywork in good order with clean lines, consistent panel gaps and no visible corrosion 
  • The paintwork is similarly very well kept, just a small area of paint reaction to note on driver’s side rear wing 
  • Black factory correct Fuchs alloys with polished rims in excellent, unmarked condition 
  • Optional Whale Tail fitted with front spoiler 
  • Smart interior appears to have been retrimmed in cream with white piping 
  • Cream dashtop with contrasting black fittings also applied to door cards 
  • Cabin presents very well with barely if any signs of wear 
  • Front boot similarly trimmed in contrasting back and cream and showing no marks 
  • Fitted with black carpets and 911SC branded black over mats 
  • Retains its period-correct Grundig radio cassette system 
  • Good switchgear with clear dials and decals throughout 
The classic 911 shape is so familiar that we can perhaps become inured to its drama. But it only takes an example like this lovely Lago Green car to remind us how good these cars look when carefully specified from the factory, as here. It looks magnificent, the appealing metallic paintwork complemented by contrasting cream leather interior. It is all in very good order and betrays few if any signs of wear. 
The effect is completed by those smart black Fuchs alloys and the iconic Whale Tail.
