The Appeal
Where Porsche’s engineers took a high-tech approach to the business of sports car building to create the 996, at the same time, the bods in Blackpool were doing something rather different. The result was the Tuscan, an old name for a thoroughly new car that was all about raw, brutal power and simple, direct driver engagement.
Beneath the bolted-down bonnet was an all-new, race-derived ‘Speed Six’ engine, in 3.6L or, as here, 4L form. This car, finished in dark blue metallic with a grey leather cabin, comes to market with a vast history file of significant recent work.
First off, the all-important engine rebuild took place 30,000 miles ago. The differential and driveline have also been rebuilt, the suspension replaced with a gas set up and the CV joints rebuilt. Wheel spacers have been added and the whole steering geometry set up correctly so that this car goes and drives well.
The chassis was treated to a body off refurbishment in 2019. More recently the bodywork was extensively restored following an accident and in 2024 the car fully resprayed.
The result is a car that is in rude mechanical, structural and cosmetic condition. The buyer may wish to titivate the interior, but that would be a straightforward job. With full service history, lengthy MOT with no advisories and a distinctive TVR plate thrown in, this looks a fine example of the early 4L 360bhp Tuscan.
The vendor says:
“Lively fun noisy and exciting - never a dull moment. Gear change crisp with a long heavy throttle pedal as your traction control. Cars like this can not be made anymore. A beautiful experience.”
