The Attractions

Ferruccio Lamborghini is certainly best known today for his famous road cars, but the 1R tractor was probably his greatest success. This small tractor, with its unmistakable orange and blue colouring, has been popular throughout Italy since its first appearance in 1961.

Despite its popularity, this late 1965 model is a real gem. Unrestored but in excellent mechanical condition, it has been visibly maintained with great care throughout its long life. It even comes with a registration document, a rarity for these agricultural vehicles.

The growing nostalgia for these robust working vehicles has led to the restoration of many examples. This tractor is something different, a very original but fully usable example that does not hide the beauty of its age.

History and Documentation

Registered in 1965
Equipped with a registration document, which is rare for these tractors
Well maintained over the years - only a few components have been replaced, such as the headlights
Always kept indoors, protecting metal parts from rust
The paint has been touched up in places over the years
The seat seems to have been replaced in the past, probably for greater comfort and safety
An alternative brake master cylinder was installed a few years ago, which no longer works
Original toolbox in the left rear mudguard
Not currently overhauled

Condition

Unrestored tractor in its original orange and blue colouring
The photos reveal clear signs of age and patina, which add to its character
Very original rear mudguards and engine bonnet and only slightly dented
The grille looks good with no obvious dents
The wheels are solid but the colour is faded as they are in original condition
The front headlight bracket has been repaired over the years
Front and rear lights are new or nearly new
The paintwork is worn but adequate for a work vehicle
All metal parts have no major defects, only minor dents
The mudguards and bonnet are often very rusty on these tractors, but on this example they appear sound
The original toolbox is still mounted on the left rear mudguard
New tyres and front inner tubes have just been installed
The seat is in good condition and appears to have been replaced over the years
Equipped with a Lamborghini lift that works properly

Mechanics

Engine of 1,462 cm³ with 26 hp
3-speed gearbox with reduction and reverse gears
No excessive steering play and starts correctly
Engine starts immediately and runs smoothly without irregular knocking
The gearbox works correctly
The power lift works correctly, it raises and lowers as intended
The tractor has two power take-offs
The hydraulic brake system is not operational, only the hand brake works
The original exhaust is still fitted with its original markings
The hour meter is original and still works
Pins and bushings are straight
We have been informed that the steering system is in good condition
