1967 BSA C15 G

Vendor supplied images

Highlights

  • An original and very presentable example
  • Weathering in nicely following an older restoration
  • Benefits from new piston rings, valves and valve springs
  • The vendor reports that it’s running and riding very well indeed

The Appeal

BSA’s first unit-construction four-stroke motorcycle, the humble C15, marked a significant chapter in the Birmingham firm’s history. With a 250 cc capacity, the C15 could (only just) be ridden on ‘L’ plates in period, meaning it was the first proper motorcycle many experienced. That leaves many bikers nostalgic for their formative years on two wheels, making the C15 a very collectable machine.
This 1967 example has weathered in nicely following an older restoration. It’s in lovely condition, remaining very original and now exhibiting an attractive patina. The engine benefits from new piston rings, valves and valve springs, so is in very good running order. The bike benefits from road tax and MOT exemption, meaning it’s inexpensive to run and ready to go.

The History and Paperwork

  • UK market example
  • Six registered keepers
  • Exempt from road tax and MOT testing
  • Subject to a restoration several years prior to current ownership

The Condition

  • Period-correct paint scheme and decals which have accrued a nice patina since the restoration
  • No obvious signs of damage or corrosion to the mudguards, oil tank and fuel tank
  • Smart chromework with only very light marks and pitting
  • The instruments read clearly
  • No notable wear to the seat upholstery
  • The grips, controls and footpegs appear in very good order

The Mechanics

  • 250 cc four-stroke single
  • Four-speed gearbox
  • Unit construction
  • When the vendor acquired the bike, it was suffering from a bent valve
  • New piston rings, valves and valve springs fitted
  • Reportedly in very good running order
  • The vendor rides the bike and reports that all works well and is very fun to use
