The Appeal
That a standard MGB is all the classic you really ever need hasn’t stopped an army of enthusiasts making these cars even better.
This car is a case in point. It is a very pretty restored ‘67 BGT sitting on steels rather than the more common wires. But if you haven’t clocked the windscreen yet then it hides a secret. Beneath the lengthy bonnet lies an Oselli 1,950cc motor. At the back it has been upgraded with a SPAX kit. Those improvements likely explain why the current keeper uses it weekly regardless of weather. It is a very reluctant sale due to loss of storage.
The car was restored over four years to 2018. Subsequent sparing use means that it continues to present well in dark red with a matching interior. The history file is impressive and show recent servicing, general repairs and a new alternator.
The BGT is the sort of classic you can live with daily. This one proves the point and, with its upgraded spec and overdrive gearbox would be perfect for long distance touring. A long, advisory-free MOT underlines the positive impression.
