The Appeal
The Mk1 Escort was an immensely significant car for Ford of Great Britain. Following on from the successful Cortina, here was a small saloon with great sporting potential. Like its predecessor, the Escort proved a strong performer on the racetrack and rally circuit with the aid of Alan Mann Racing. Mk1 Escorts are one of the few cars that could win races on Sunday and take the kids to school on Monday.
This three-door 1971 example was the pride and joy of the vendor’s late husband. Fast Ford fanatics will note the 2.0-litre Pinto engine, five-speed manual, high-performance alloy radiator and upgraded interior trim. Owing to the circumstances of the sale, the vendor does not know the Ford’s full specifications, but can confirm that it has been in dry storage and is offered in running, driving order.
It’s time for a new custodian to take on this very well-done Pinto-engined Mk1 Escort.
