The Appeal
The ‘rubber bumper’ MGB has always split enthusiast opinion. Many increasingly like the integrated bumpers, while others prefer the chrome bumper versions. And yet, nobody can deny that these final cars drove better and had improved handling too.
This car, then, is the answer: a later model that has been properly converted to the chrome bumper aesthetics of the earlier cars. Refinished in red as part of an older restoration, it also sports a number of other desirable upgrades including a full leather interior in matching red with full carpeting through to the boot - also in smart red - and a wood-trimmed dashboard and console. The attractive chrome sill covers complete the look, but have been removed for some of the photo's to show they aren’t hiding anything untoward!
The car is mechanically standard save for the important addition of a fruity stainless steel exhaust. The photographs show a well detailed car that has clearly been looked after. It is an impression confirmed by the car’s recent voluntary MOT. It shows no advisories and runs to May 2026.
This is a very pretty and well kept B that looks great fun. In short, just like an MG should be.
