The Appeal
In 1977 Rolls-Royce's ethereal two door saloon, coachbuilt by Mulliner Park Ward, received the improvements applied to its four door cousin. Just 328 of these ‘Series 2’ cars left the works between 1977 and 1980. The final cars, including this one, got rear suspension improvements previously reserved for the Silver Spur and Spirit.
Finished in handsome dark blue metallic over a refurbished grey leather interior, this smart Corniche was one of the last built. Neat details like the desirable ‘Accessory Wheel’ alloys add to its appeal. It has been sparingly used since first registration, covering an average 2,155 miles per year. In recent years, it was on the Isle of Man as part of a large private collection.
The car has been regularly serviced and maintained by factory main dealers and specialists, amassing a large history file. There are also detailed notes provided by the previous keeper, which the vendor has typed up and appear in the photos and summarised below.
The vendor acquired the car last year and immediately despatched it to marque specialist Hillier Hill for a check over and servicing. The work included new plus, leads, electronic ignition, coil, carburettor refurbishment and new inlet manifold gaskets.
The car is in good, solid condition and is very presentable, as the photos prove. There are some localised areas for the buyer to consider, but with the reassurance of that recent specialist check it runs well and is ready to enjoy.
