The Appeal
Launched in the early 1970s, the Alfa Romeo Alfasud set new standards for small family cars with its light construction, flat-four boxer engine, and sharp handling. By the 1980s, the range-topping 1.5 Ti Green Cloverleaf was the ultimate expression of the model, combining spirited performance with distinctive sporting details. Today, well-preserved examples are highly prized by enthusiasts.
This 1983 Alfasud began life as a 1.5 SC but was carefully converted to Ti Green Cloverleaf specification by Alfa Romeo Club figure Tom Parkinson. He sourced genuine new-old-stock panels from BLS, doors, hatch, wings, sills, and more, reportedly spending over £6,000 on parts alone. In 2015, the current owner fitted a correct Ti Green Cloverleaf engine with just 36,000 miles from new, restoring performance and authenticity.
Since then, the car has benefitted from a quality respray in Alfa Rosso AR530 with ceramic coating, refurbished alloys with fresh Goodyear tyres, and extensive mechanical work, including renewed suspension, clutch hydraulics, brakes, and cooling system components. The interior presents in period-correct black and red Ti trim with Alfa leather steering wheel, while the underside shows signs of protective treatment.
With 70,573 miles on the speedo, voluntary MOT history since 2015, and a chain of enthusiast ownership, this Alfasud represents a rare chance to acquire one of the most celebrated sporting hatchbacks of its era in excellent condition - a compelling choice for both collectors and drivers.
