The Appeal

'HE' stands for 'High Efficiency'. The XJ-S was launched amidst the '70s oil crisis, so the introduction of HE in 1981 significantly reduced fuel consumption through an engine redesign without compromising the model's turbine-smooth V12 character.

This 1989 example stands out for both its specification and its preservation. Finished in Gun-Metal grey over Magnolia leather, it is further distinguished by a suite of factory options including a burr walnut steering wheel and gear lever, mechanical cruise control, heated seats with electronic lumbar support, and electric mirrors. The period radio remains in place and is reportedly functional.

Having passed through just three former registered keepers since delivery in Versailles in November 1989, the car is accompanied by its original stamped service book and documentation tracing its 88,200 km from new. The vendor states the interior looks as though it has just left the factory, with the original protective plastic from delivery reportedly still present on the seats. The bodywork is described as well-preserved, with only minor imperfections. Mechanically, the vendor states the V12 runs smoothly and without unwanted noises.
