The third generation BMW 3 Series, the 1990 E36, was immediately well received.

With a completely new, elegant and pleasant design, it managed to combine aerodynamic and modern shapes with the classic stylistic features of the Munich brand, such as the peculiar circular headlights, introduced with the 1968 BMW 2002, now protected by a clear cover, the wedge profile with the classic Hofmeister slant of the back windows and a compact but svelte bodywork, with a longer wheelbase than the previous model.
 
The mechanics were advanced too, with the new, powerful and flexible M50 twin-cam six-cylinder engines, sophisticated Z-Link suspension and ABS.

The coupé version was launched in 1992, followed in 1993 by the cabriolet, one of the most fashionable cars of the 90s, with an electrically operated fabric hood, a reinforced windshield frame in lieu of a roll-bar and rear headrests that extend automatically in the event of a rollover.
 
This beautiful 1994 BMW 320i convertible is a well-preserved example of this desirable and exclusive sports car, equipped with the pleasant and lively 150 hp two-liter six-cylinder engine.
