The Appeal
In a world where performance cars are getting bigger, heavier and increasingly reliant on driver aids, the BMW 1M makes even more sense by the day. A svelte two-door sports coupé exclusively available with a manual gearbox, the 1M (or ‘1 Series M Coupé’ to give it its full name) was a skunkworks out-of-hours project that would go on to become one of the greatest M Cars of all time.
It was unheard of at the time for an M car to feature a turbocharged non-S Series engine, so the 1M divided opinion with its tuned N54. But, with 340 horsepower sent to the rear wheels via a mechanical limited-slip differential, it the 1M proved to be sublime to drive and equally good to look at.

Just 6,331 were made of which only 450 were right-hand drive, and here we have a beautiful UK-supplied example with 34,165 miles on the clock and just two former registered keepers. As the photographs attest, the car is in very good condition for its age, resplendent in gloss black with stunning M Sport alloys shod with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres.
If you’re looking for a great example of this rare sporting coupé, this is the one to buy.
