The first edition of the sporty six-passenger (bench-seat) 2-door drop-top series has the styling which truly apart of the groovy-psychedelic culture of the 60’s.
The range topping model included a chrome horn ring; rear armrests and ashtrays; two horns; Futura wheel covers in place of the standard hubcaps; a Futura logo on the “C-pillar” (on coupes); chrome side-window, windshield, and rear-window moldings; a horizontal chrome strip between the taillights; and a horizontal arrow-style chrome strip on the bodyside. All these styling cues really expressed the east coast lifestyle.
Lumped with the 101 hp, 170 cu. in. over-head valve inline six-cylinder engine & breathing through a single-barrel Holley carburettor, eco-muscle car engine is marred to the 2-speed Ford-o-Matic automatic transmission fitted as optional equipment to withstand the healthy 212 Nm of torque.
The unibody construction had coil springs in the front with leaf springs at the rear. Drum brakes at all four corners provided the stopping power for the light 1274kg cruise-mobile.
