The Jidé, bear the initials of their designer, Jacques Durand, the JIDE Gordini 1600 berlinettes competed with the Alpine-Renault, with a notable advantage, the central-rear position of their engine.
Built in very small numbers (less than one hundred and fifty), of surprising technical quality, the Jidé also distinguished itself in the race in the hands of many amateur racing drivers, until the 1980s, with brilliant results for a car created by a builder with very small budget. J.
Very endearing by its ambition, its weight-to-power ratio and its astounding handling, the very rare JIDE 1600 is more and more sought after by collectors.
Different original Renault engines can be found on the Jidé, the small 1100, Ferry, or Gordini, the 1300 Gordini, or the more powerful 1600 comparable to that fitted to the Alpine 1600 S, as in the case of our example. A very nice 1596 cc version, prepared with a Ferry camshaft, high compression pistons, developing 140 hp. at 6150 rpm. [sheet of passage to the bench of power to the support]
