Hexagon Classics are delighted to offer this low mileage example of Porsche’s last air-cooled model. Many Porsche collectors rate the 993 series as the very best one to own, and there are definitely not many examples remaining with such a low mileage and low ownership.
The 993 was the first generation of the 911 to have a 6-speed manual transmission included as standard. In virtually every situation it was possible to keep the engine at its best torque range above 4, 500 rpm. The 911’s horizontally opposed 6-cylinder engine is located at the rear, putting the weight of the engine on the driven wheels which aids greatly in increasing in increasing traction. The 993 has a hydraulic dual circuit braking system with 4-piston aluminium fixed calipers. All brakes are cross drilled, ensuring optimal braking even in wet conditions. The exceptional reliability and usability is down to Porsche’s constant use of Motorsport as a proving ground and development platform for the components of its road cars.
For the 993 to achieve maximum performance and a generous spread of torque, cylinder charging was further optimised by adding variable length inlet tracts to the two-stage tuned intake system. This was known as Varioram, and boosted torque at low and medium engine speeds, making torque more progressive, whilst at the same time ensuring maximum performance at peak revs. The engine produces 285 HP at 6, 100 rpm, maximum torque is 340 Nm at 5, 250 rpm. 0-62 mph takes just 5. 3 seconds.
Supplied new by Evans Halshaw, Little Aston Porsche in May 1997, and with just 2 registered keepers from new, the vehicle is as complete as one could imagine. In a private collection for the past 20 years, the Porsche has received a recent recommissioning by our service department, which has included a major Porsche specification service, new N-rated tyre set and new Porsche brake discs and pads (due to age of the original parts). The history file includes its original leather book pack, service invoices, MoT certificates, and original supplying dealer paperwork and spare key. A comprehensive 12-month warranty will also be included.
