The Appeal
The 3L 911, introduced in 1978, added more power and a stronger engine to the innimitable air-cooled classic’s many attributes. Any 911 is a treat but these mid-period cars are amongst the most usable.
This pretty Light Blue Metallic 1980 Targa looks particularly good because it has recently received a full respray in the original colour. With its black Fuchs and lovely Pasha blue interior, it is a proper visual treat.
The vendor acquired the car in 2013 and has covered 10,000 miles. It has been maintained by well-regarded 911 specialists, including a major service in 2017. The gearbox was rebuilt by Unit 911 around 10 years ago. Since 2020 it has been in dry storage and little-used, which is confirmed by MOT records. Recent work included significant work to the front end, including replacing the fuel tank and suspension supports. The Targa top and rear seats have also been refurbished.
This is a nicely specified Targa that comes with a huge history file dating back to 1983. There is also a useful voluntary MOT valid to August 2026 with no advisories.

“Its a joy to drive the car, it puts a big smile on your face every time you get in and drive it, when hear that flat 6 sound through the exhaust. The power delivery is unreal for 1980, second gear is the pinnacle of joy, the car pulls and pulls. It handles the road so good even compared to modern cars of today. A real head turner and everyone comments on the car, even new 911 Porsche drivers doff their cap.
“I bought a Split screen bus over 2 1/2 years ago and my intention was always to sell the Porsche but its taken me 2 years contemplating do I don't I, but now its time to pass on to the next owner, to enjoy the experience of the air cooled 911's this will give someone may years of pleasure.”

- Electric door mirrors don't work but stay in position once set
