The car is fully stock, and has been treated to high spec filters and fluids under my ownership. The tyres have plenty of life left in them and hold the road very nicely (Michelin Pilot Sport 4, 235/ 40 on 18” rims), one of the tyres is a Farroad FRD26 on a non-driven rear wheel. The previous owner fitted this against our agreement to replace a damaged Michelin like-for-like, but on the rear axle it hasn’t let me down. —-
This car has done over 140, 000 miles, but it still drives and pulls very clean through every gear. It does show its age in the paint in places. I’m not precious about the exterior although it has been parked in a garage throughout my ownership.—-
It comes with a few spares and extras:
- Original wing mirror covers (poorly repaired by the previous owner, I replaced them with black ones)
- OEM bluetooth module and wiring harness which I haven’t been able to programme into the head unit, but is plugged in
- Spare wheel nut caps
- Various spare light bulbs
- Spare rear light cluster (it has a small leak so it condenses on the inside. Scrap it or try to fix it if you want)—-
Great features with this spec:
- Adjustable lumbar support in driver seat
- Heated seats
- Automatic headlights
- Automatic windscreen wipers
- Hill start assist
- Reversing parking sensors
- Heated mirrors
- Electric folding mirrors
- Adjustable damper stiffness (and steering weight)
- Adjustable armrest, length & height (underrated for long journeys)
—-I had ambitions to program in an OEM bluetooth module to make use of the steering wheel controls, but didn’t get around to recoding the head unit. The nav maps could to with an update, but if you’ve got a recent iPhone you can stick it on the magnetic strip the previous owner fitted to the console instead of using built-in GPS.
Selling as I’m moving house and don’t need a car anymore. Although it has served me very well both as a daily and a tourer around the UK and in Europe. I bought the car from a dealer, it had been neglected for some time hence the work on the intake and injectors etc. Part service history meaning I have a full record of all work done to it in my ownership but not prior other than what is stated on the MOT certificates. —-
Things to note:
It sails through MOTs these days and needs almost no upkeep.
- If I was to keep it longer term I would as a precaution replace the timing chain and tensioner although this shows no signs of loosening or even rattling.
- The clutch release bearing sometimes gives the signature “groan” when pulling away in first gear on a cold day but this goes away once warmed up. This is caused by a lubrication issue on some of these engines and can safely be addressed when the clutch needs replacing (which isn’t anytime soon)
- If I needed to keep the car I would probably wrap or re spray it to preserve the paintwork so it matches the running condition and the interior standard but I decided to sell it on instead. The detailed images showing dings and pits in the paint are hardly visible until you really look for them, they have not worsened in my ownership (garaged).—-
Here’s what it’s been through:
- Full intake manifold decarbonisation
- Oil & filter changes (2/ year precautionary)
- New NGK Spark plugs
- New injector seals
- New turbo oil feed & drain seals
- New vacuum pump seals
- New PAGID brake discs & pads all corners (again, plenty of life in them and stops great)
- New coil springs all corners (note the OEM adjustable dampers still work great)
- New anti-roll bar drop links
- Wheel alignment
- Full interior valet (steam clean, shampoo & scrub, ozone treatment)
- 2x new windscreens (unlucky with flying stones!)
- Headlight bulb upgrade (rear bulbs & DRL bulbs replaced too)
- New intake manifold & filter housing (came with an induction kit)
- New filters (engine intake, cabin pollen filter)
