Description
DAX Rush V8 EFI 3. 5L in Maroon
The car has a COMPLETE history, diligently compiled by the current owner! The kit was originally bought in 2000 and finally registered by the first owner in 2010. Due to ill health the car subsequently covered only 176 miles before being rebuilt in 2019 by the current and second owner.
The ‘nut and bolt’ restoration of the car has been carried out to a very high standard, including all fasteners being replaced with stainless-steel.
The power unit comes from a verified 1986 Range Rover Classic and the short engine was rebuilt in late 2021 by V8 Developments of Spalding. The engine runs a Piper Fast Road camshaft and has precision balanced crankshaft, clutch plate, front pulley and lightened flywheel. The dynamic dyno printout indicates 201 BHP and 202 lb ft of torque. The engine is fitted with an adjustable Jenvey Dynamics fuel pressure regulator if further tuning is desired.
The original Rush was specified with no expense spared. The rear De-Dion suspension ensures excellent traction and handling control. The ignition is upgraded to the Lumenition Electronic Optronic system. The Spax suspension has been improved to adjustable the impressive Protech 400 shocks. The brakes’ all-round calipers and discs were new at the original build and are in as new condition. The R380 Land Rover gearbox was new at the original build and easily handles the high torque requirement from the upgraded V8 engine. The seats are touring comfortable, Burgundy body colour matched Cobra Roadster 7’s with Wilians 4-point race harnesses. And to deal with all weather conditions (although the car has not been driven in the wet since the restoration) there is a complete set of front and rear tonneaus, soft-top and side doors. And, all set off with an extremely rare set of Image 7 ½” and 9 ½” 17” V. M. two piece alloys running Toyo Proxes tyres. One has some kerb damage.
For improved and easy maintenance, ARP cylinder head and manifold studs are fitted. The wiring loom has been sectioned with connectors for easy access and disassembly. Similarly, the dashboard can be easily removed, complete. The electrics are managed by a new Polevolt MTA modular fuse and relay system.
The car has a full MOT and comes with no advisories.
For those who vehicle history is important, this classic comes with five date ordered files: 1. DAX Assembly Guide (original), 2. Vehicle & Service History, 3. Technical Information Manual (with guidance notes) and two 4. & 5. for Vehicle Invoices. The financing of my new car project requires me to sell my beloved Dax Rush. The car was rebuilt by myself with a huge amount of my time, care and attention to every detail. I have also attempted to make every aspect maintenance and improvements friendly. The electric are modular and each can be disconnected to ease access, e. g. the dash can be unplugged complete. The car is a real head-turner, not just visually but due to that deep V8 throb that attracts so much attention. It is a real pleasure, as well as a lot of fun to drive.
I am told by enthusiast and professional that it is good to see a kit car built to such an unusually high standard!!!
