Subaru Impreza 1. 6 GL FWD
This is possibly one of the last of its kind in the UK. An original UKDM Impreza EJ16 (1. 6 boxer) with a 5-speed manual front-wheel-drive gearbox. I have never seen another and gets loads of attention everywhere you take it. A truly unique car.

The car is in excellent condition for its age. The arches have no rust and are mint, very uncommon for a UKDM Impreza classic. The arches have never been welded, nor the sills. The sills are in great condition too. The doors have no dings and the main bodywork has no major scratches. Photos of the underside can be provided upon request. The only part that lets the exterior down are the bumpers. Paint is cracking on the rear bumper but not flaking. The front bumper has one scuff and a few marks as seen in the photographs. This is a shame but doesn’t detract from the car. The car was dry-stored over the winter to keep it clean and salt-free.

Runs beautifully and incredibly reliable, regularly driven to show on the motorway an average 35+ mpg.
New OEM Subaru clutch included - The clutch is high but doesn’t slip at all. Most classic boxes are notchy and this is no different but is fine. No crunching between gears but 1st to 2nd is slightly stiff. Never bothered me and drives fine in traffic.
2x Brand new brake front brake calipers fitted this year with new pads and discs.
Suspension:
Replaced with maxpeedingrods adjustable coilovers (stiff)

Rear heated screen present but not connected, I bought it like this and haven’t checked to see if a loom is present, never been an issue as I only used it in summer. The GL was the “New Impreza’s” base model, with the 1. 6 FWD being the most basic. Sadly, the scrap scheme took most of them, with others succumbing to rust. I am always asked how many are left, and I cannot answer. “How man left?” count all versions of the GL, so gauging the number of front-wheel-drive cars is impossible. I have never seen another 1. 6 FWD wagon for sale since buying it, with very few GL models made in white.
