1997 Porsche Boxster Manual - High Spec - Full Carbon Fibre Interior Package - Concept Tribute
Welcome to the sale of my stunning 1997 Porsche Boxster. 113K, FSH & Full Porsche dealer history up to 75K, then Porsche Specialists from there onwards. Fully stamped maintenance booklet, manuals etc present. 4 previous owners, MOT’d until July, happy to put another on it, if sale agreed.
Just had a FULL service by highly respected Porsche specialist, Porsche Strasse, in July of 2022, amongst other things, such as new ignition coil packs, drive belt, new timing chain seals, track arms, 4 wheel alignment, MOT, covering only a couple hundred miles since. They can vouch for the car and how it drives etc.
Finished in the infamous launch/ press car spec of Arctic Silver Metallic, over Boxster Red leather. This is my take on the Boxster concept from 1993, with a few tweaks here and there.
So when I purchased the car, I first set about looking in to making some minor changes to the styling and planning to make it in to something different to all the others. I took inspiration from the Boxster concept, and wanted it to stand out from all the standard examples out there.
The car was original, and in lovely order, especially considering it’s 25 years old. It needed a little tidying up here and there, a good clean etc, but I knew it had great potential. Its greatest strength is how it drives, it’s a fantastic example in that respect. Feels like it’s done half the mileage. You can tell it’s led a good life.
What stood out to me was the specification of the car. The beautiful silver over red, like the launch spec, and that of the concept also, but what I couldn’t believe was the factory interior carbon everywhere. Door sills, gearknob, handbrake & door trims. All in beautiful order, as is the rest of the interior. Oh, and it still has the optional Porsche mats from new, in fantastic condition. Again, over 100k on the clock and the interior has aged exquisitely.
The air con is ice cold and works perfectly, as does everything else. Electric windows, Electric mirrors, radio, CD player, trip computer and more.
2 years ago it had a brand new canvas hood fitted and as a result is immaculate. Everything was done mechanically and then gone over again by Porsche Strasse in July, as it needed a new roof cable, only something minor. All working perfectly, as it should.
So here are a list of changes, replacements I made during my ownership -

Refurbished in Porsche Weiss Gold, with powder coat polished outer rim (no corrosion, no maintenance needed)
Painted Callipers and hubs in black with brand new Porsche lettering

(Sounds absolutely fantastic) + fitting
NEW genuine Porsche Boxster Boot Badge - painted in Porsche Weiss Gold to match wheels - £75
NEW Eibach lowering springs - £225 + fitting
NEW Zenn Sport front mesh bumper grills - £130
Front bumper resprayed - number plate holes filled
Now for the negatives and positives
Negatives -
Clutch is a little on the heavy side, but works absolutely fine and won’t need a new one for several thousand miles yet, according to Porsche Strasse
Ignition - on startup from time to time, you’ll get a low volume screech that lasts about half a second. Looking in to it, it’s a Porsche thing of the era, a lot of cars do it every now and again. Porsche Strasse insisted its nothing to worry about but worth mentioning I thought.
Few stone chips here and there (not front bumper as now painted) few scuffs and age related marks, small bit of bubbling in one or two places, but very solid, all as to be expected. Positives -
Drives exceptionally well. No rattles, no noises. Incredible grip and very good performance. You can tell it hasn’t lost any HP, which is a testament to the life it’s led.
Gearbox is smooth and changes gear exactly as it should, same with clutch (see above)
Brand New tyres!
Brand New stainless steel sports exhaust system (sounds awesome! Not obnoxious and doesn’t drone)
Solid underneath, solid throughout
No dents and presents beautifully
Everything working as it should
Rare carbon interior
Stunning split rim cup wheels
FSH, full stamped, Porsche history, lots of paperwork, manuals etc
All factory, service, original stickers etc exist throughout the car. This is a great sign and testament to the originality of the car
Brakes in good order and working as should
Perfectly working electric roof in near perfect order
Full service 200-300 miles ago
Ready to use and be enjoyed over the summer
Summary -
A superb example, and without a doubt, a future classic. A Porsche that’s still affordable and very reasonable to run in terms of cost.
A car id like to keep, but needs to go, as I have to put the money in to other ventures.
A car that won’t disappoint. A cliche but I do believe that first to see will buy.
I’ve been as honest as possible with the car, it certainly has nothing to hide and is a great, honest example.
