Description

Customised 1998 1st generation Yamaha VMX-12G 1200 V-Max. 4 previous owners. 12 months MOT with no advisories. 3 ignition keys. Haynes manual (although nearly everything has been changed bar the engine and frame). Approximately 40, 000 miles (there have been a couple of speedo changes but the mileage is verifiable from the MOT history). Owned over 10 years but I have only done around 3000 miles in that time. MOTs going back to 2003 (the MOT history is very clean). There is not a full history but I have receipts for the work I have had done. Runs really well. Regular oil and filter changes. A couple of hundred miles ago I had the new front tyre fitted, a new speedo sensor, new oil and filter and the coolant, brake and clutch fluid changed plus I had the carbs flushed. This work was done by Gary Foley at Public Enemy Customs near Horsham. I have photos of various stages of the main build done by the previous owner (and can supply his contact details). I can put anyone interested in touch with the mechanic who has looked after the bike for me and has done most of the work in my ownership (including some modifications and the paint job).

Despite all the mods I insure the bike for around £250 fully comprehensive with a guaranteed value.

Never ridden in the rain (except for accidentally getting caught in the odd shower). Always garaged where it is always connected to an Optimate 3. Not ridden in winter when it is laid up with a full tank of E5 and fuel stabiliser to protect the carbs. Always run on premium fuel (E5 and its predecessors) only.

As this is a unique machine I encourage you to view if you are interested. I can supply any other details required on request. Strictly no test rides without evidence of insurance and the full asking price in cash in my hand (you bend it you’ve bought it). Genuine enquiries only please - no stupid offers or scam attempts. I will consider sensible offers. This bike won Best Custom at the 2012 Southern Comfort Rally (a major meet for UK V-Max owners). I snapped it up when I found out it was for sale. It has lots of very high quality components and one-off parts that have cost many thousands. It is a very high quality build. It gets lots of attention wherever it goes, either being ridden or parked up. It always draws a small crowd at bike meets. Prepare to have conversations with people at petrol stations. The Hindle exhaust system gives it a menacing V4 soundtrack. This bike is not for the shy retiring type!
