1996 'N' Ford Escort RS2000 4x4
• Rare RS2000 4x4 model – approx. 30 on the road.
• Dark Aubergine Metallic with Flow Raven Recaro seats.
• Electric windows and mirrors. Sunroof. 2 Keys.
• 104000 miles.
• Recommissioned after 10 years in storage.

• Very original condition.
Of the 500 or so RS2000 4x4’s that were produced, 50 were built in Dark Aubergine. I would think that there are at most half a dozen on the road in this colour, probably fewer.
N830 JCA was registered in March 1996, and before I bought it in July 2022 it had been off the road for 10 years. It now looks great outside and in, and will make a great usable 90’s classic.
The previous owner had dry stored the car for about 6 years, and it had been off the road for about 4 years prior to that. I think it will have been parked up due to brake issues, specifically a hub, ABS sensor and ABS ring. All these have been replaced, along with a fresher ABS pump, master cylinder and servo. All four discs and sets of pads have also been replaced, along with one calliper.
To get the car back on the road a small amount of welding has been done on the underside, but the car itself is very solid and rust free. The front and rear bumpers and bonnet have been repainted professionally and look fantastic.
The car has also had a new CAT, 2 lambda sensors, MAF sensor, battery, oil, plugs, a starter motor, a number of trim pieces, and has newly powder coated wheels with new Toyo Proxes tyres.
The car has a Magnex stainless steel exhaust system in great condition.
The interior is in excellent condition with no tears in the Recaros. There is one tiny burn mark on the driver’s seat, but nothing else of note. I have added an RDS 5000 factory tape player (all 4 speakers work), and all of the electrics on the car have been sorted by an auto electrician, including removing the 1990’s alarm system. The car has new fitted mats and has been fully wet-vacced. The headlining is in great condition as is the undamaged parcel shelf.
The car has the Ford book pack which contains the original service book which has been regularly stamped by Ford garages up until about 75000 miles, and now at 103900 miles.
The only items I have not been able to rectify are the fuel gauge, (diagnosed as the sender unit), and the door open warning light.
The MOT in valid for 12 months and the V5 registration document is also present. After a lot of time and effort (from a professional mechanic, electrician, wheel refurbisher and bodyshop) this RS2000 4x4 looks as good and performs as well as it would have done in the late 1990's. The Dark Aubergine paint is really eye catching and the Recaro interior is excellent. Aside from the Magnex Exhaust it has been recommissioned to be as close to original as possible, down to the RDS5000 Tape player.
It is a very rare car, and in the condition it is in now it will be a great car for shows, weekends, or even daily driving. Might even be an investment.
