This is a very rare early mk 2 Scirocco 1. 6 GL with the single wiper and no body kit. Extremely solid and original car with full history supported by a file full of invoices. Last owner had the car for 30 years.
HVA 2Y is the original registration and is valued at £750. It was built in 1982 so is registered as an historic vehicle - so no road tax to pay. It doesn't need an MOT to be road legal but happy to get one.
The car is original other than a few small upgrades to improve the ride or the cosmetics: G60 wheels (original refurbished GL wheels and tyres are available); front and rear strut braces (easily removable) and 15mm lower suspension. It also had a Jetex exhaust fitted years back so it sounds a bit more sporty.
The bodywork is excellent with no rot. It’s had paint on both sides in its life but bonnet, roof and tailgate look to be original. There’s a very small dent on the roof. Aftermarket sunroof fitted.
Underneath is original from factory - no signs of any welding.
Interior is original other than the stereo (original is available). Front seats are in excellent condition and rears also good but faded a bit on the top. Door cards are also a little sun damaged along the tops. Dashboard has a couple of cracks.
Mechanically it is sound and drives really nicely. Quite pokey for a little 1. 6 with 85 bhp. It’s been well maintained over the years and has very recently had the pierburg carb rebuilt.
