Description
Bell as she is called is only one of 1, 000 that were produced in one of two colours specific to this limited edition, in this case stunning Arizona Blue. There is probably only a few dozen of each colour left on the road
She has only covered 49k in her 29 years and has been in our loving ownership since Aug’ 20.
She was bought from auction by a previous owner in Feb ’20 when as a lock down project she had her transformation from original spec to pretty much what you see now - 13” deep dish wheels, wider arches and new interior (but keeping the original Rover stereo). She was sold to the previous owner who only kept her for 3 months (wife didn’t like it) before we my wife became the proud owner. In our ownership we have had the following done with all but the cosmetic work undertaken by a very reputable mini specialist classic garage:
- Tided up the lighting wiring loom with new headlights lights now on separate relays.
- Added a straight-through stainless steel Fletcher exhaust which sounds amazing.
- New rear brake cylinders and brake lines
- K&N filter, new needle with the car tuned on a rolling road
- New front cones, hi-los, and adjustable gaz shock absorbers
- New front Cobra seats (attached to the rear of the cross member) which along with an adjustable steering bracket give for a very relaxed driving position
- Replaced black external and door fittings with chrome to complete the look
- new carpets and mats
Bell is great fun to drive, the gearbox is taught and precise and the handling is superb with a lovely burble from the exhaust on deceleration. She is admired at every car meet she goes to for her fantastic looks, gleaming paintwork and comfortable driving position.
She is also the last of the carb fed Minis so allows a future owner to tune her further if they so wish.
Her shell is in excellent order, with original vented sills, body coloured inner arches, floor pans and untouched boot floor. Her subframes are solid, she has been undersealed and gets a treatment of Lanogaurd every spring, her engine bay is tidy. Her gleaming Arizona Blue paintwork is what makes her stand out, there are a few age related marks with the only discernible issue being slight bubbling on the front O/ S wing below the cowl (see photos).
She has been garaged by ourselves and at least the last few previous owners. She is not driven in the wet.
Both the MOT inspector and our classic car garage have commented that she is one of the best they have seen and driven. The car is MOT’d until May ’24 and will be given an engine oil and filter change as part of the sale.
As a result of low usage and need for garage space we are looking for a loving new home for Bell.
