For sale my Vincent Rapide Series B, its on Brampton forks just like how it left the factory, its not matching numbers its a bitsa.
The engine is 1947, UFM frame is 1948 the rear frame HAS NO NUMBERS.
I bought the bike in a million pieces in lockdown as a project, I got about 90% of a complete bike and bought the rest from sone great parts suppliers.
My dad and I rebuilt it, he's a Vincent man, I'm not. He told me they are the best bikes in the world, i didn't agree.
So we Come to sell it.
good bits:
The engine was totally rebuilt new rings, pistons, bearings etc, its perfect. The mag was rewound by a mag expert I can give you his details, the carbs rebuilt with all new internals so its starts really easily. It sounds sweet see video.
The frame was rebuilt but not repainted, I hate over restored bikes so it has all the wear you would expect from an old bike. Mechanically its all new but it has patina. It was not supposed to look new, it doesn't.
The tank was painted before i got it, its perfect.
The seat was restored before i got it , its perfect.
The wheels are on new rims, new spokes, all stainless, new brakes, cables etc throughout.
my dad made a few bits like the speedo drive a few bolts here and there, he like making this stuff, he also rebuilt the speedo.
The bad bits:
the clutch drags slightly despite a full rebuild so its hard to get into gear, once in its perfect. i cannot for the life of me adjust it, it drives me mad.
The gear change mechanism needs adjusting, it jumps out of gear 3 unless you hold the pedal with a little light pressure. Like everything on a Vincent this is possible to do if you have patience and skills. I dont.
the dynamo is not connected, its there installed and i have all the bits but I hate ageing electrics, we have a LiPo battery we charge and it powers the lights for 3 hours all the lights are LED bulbs.
These bikes are the tinkerers dream, if you like playing with machines you cant go wrong. If you want to leap on it and ride it thousands of mile with no work dream on, that's what a BMW GS is for.
She's an old lady so she leaks a bit of oil, smells a bit odd (petrol), you would too if you were 76.
what comes with it?
i have all the books, all of them will come with the bike, service manuals, the red book, the Know my beast, the parts book etc. also have a few parts i will throw in.
I will also throw in the tools in the under seat tool box im hoping i will never need them again.
I'm keen to sell it to someone who is not to be fooled: Its worth asking the Vincent owners club about the bike and what to look for before you get involved, those guys know everything about these bikes, I dont.
I'm happy for you to come and see it, I'm in Southampton SO18 if you want to rag it round the block no problem. TBH its a bloody good idea I dont want you to be unhappy. I'm happy to answer any questions the details below but I'm not an expert, Vincent went bust 15 years before I was born.
My dad doesn't want to sell it, I do. We are in no rush, offers of £12. 50 will get the respect they are due. If you want a Vincent lets be adults its going nowhere for less than £35k.
