Description
AS seen at the NEC in 2022. Rare opportunity to acquire a unique Ford Capri 2. 8i. My restored Police Heritage 1986 ex Greater Manchester Police Ford Capri 2. 8i Special. Originally based in Ashton-Under-Lynn. I purchased it as a shell in 2018 with the sole purpose of returning it to its original purpose. GMP operated a fleet of Capri's during the 80's from 3. 0 to 280 and then lastly 2. 8i. This car was in service from 86 to 89, after which it was returned to a civilian car and sold. Car is said to have had 8 former keepers. However for some 18-20 years it remained on SORN until I acquired it. Body is still all original with no evidence of welding except for a small 6"X6" plate in the OS rear passenger footwell. Mileage on the clock is irelavent it's just a reading and has no bearing on this cars past.
The car was re built by aka Steve Capri in Doncaster. Not a matching numbers car as it had no engine when I purchased it. Current engine runs and sounds sweet, car is a dream to drive. Car benefited from a blow over paint job. Following new items fitted, Rear shocks and leaf springs, fuel tank, fuel pump, fuel filter, bushes all around, upgraded front disc breaks, new front springs, refurbished power steering rack and hoses, new prop shaft and centre bearing, gearbox seals, oil cooler seals, front windscreen, stainless exhaust, re upholstered interior seats, new headlining, under carpet sound deadening, alloy timing gear, water pump, core plug, deep core radiator, up graded battery, 15" alloy wheels refurbished by S1 Alloys of Chester, bottom arms, break pipes, new tyres. probably missed a couple of things.
After many hours searching all original Police equipment fitted. Two tone siren also fitted. Rear illuminating POLICE Stop box.
Not working, rear wiper and rear screen demister. Body isn't perfect for a car of this age, it has some imperfections up close.
This is a show stopper. Every show I attend its a crowd pleaser. Won best in show and Peoples Choice award at recent car shows. Driving down the motorway this car gets more looks than a Lambourgini lol.
Since putting it back on the road I've had it serviced and MOT'd yearly. It is a street legal car. When driving on the roads all is required is for me to cover the blue roof light and the word POLICE on the rear spoiler.
I've had my fun and time to move onto to a new car project. It's hard to describe everything so please contact me with any questions.
