Description

1963 Dresda Triton Cafe Racer:
This very fast and fantastic looking Triton was originally built by Dave Degans and a specialist and racing enthusiast sponsored by him. The construction took place in 1996/ 1997. Dave built a very light and very strong Norton Manx replica frame from T45 tubing. This has been custom made to be shorter and lower than a Manx and it has a steeper head angle. This means that it handles much better than a Manx, is loads lighter and doesn't make a Triumph unit engine look 'lost in space' as it does in a standard frame. Of course a Dresda box section swinging arm was used and 18" alloy rims, wide enough to take Avon racing tyres or Avon RoadRider road tyres of 130 rear and 110 front. The engine was 840cc specification with Norton crankshaft and Morgo cylinders with liners. Combustion chambers have been welded up and re-machined to achieve radical squish band area and 10. 2:1 cr using standard domed T140 pistons. This was the main factor in this engine to achieve 72bhp. A typical tuning measure by Dave Degans. Not to mention that many other high-quality parts were used, such as a Hayward Clutch with Hayward Belt drive system. The finished Triton achieved many victories in the VMCC national championship and underwent further modifications. When the original owner built a 900cc 8 valve Dresda due to a rule change in the VMCC, the offered Triton was road legal then. When the current owner bought the Triton in 2006 and wanted to use it as a racing motorcycle in Germany, other rules required the construction of a 750cc engine. This engine was built by the German Triumph racing specialist Jörg Winkelmann. This has 63 bhp, has also a lot of torque and is absolutely stable. Unfortunately, due to changed circumstances, the Triton could not be used on the race track and was driven on the road to this day with a German red vintage license plate. The Triton accelerates and drives very fast, which causes some astonishment to many motorcyclists of modern motorcycles. Of course it's a lot of fun. The original 840cc engine is present. Some parts, such as the gearbox, belt drive, ignition etc. were installed into the 750cc engine. V5 documents of the year 2006 are in place and the original registration number should be still in existance.

An injury in my right knee makes kicking difficult, which is why I want to part with this outstanding Triton.
