Beschreibung
After looking at many 205 GTI's I eventually found this one.
It had been in dry storage since 2006 and was completely original, from the match numbers engine , to the etched glass , unmodified engine, complete interior, low number of previous owners and complete service history from new.
Whilst my initial plan was to polish the original paintwork as the car was rust free, due to how the sun had shone on the car during storage and birds that had got into the shed leaving little gifts, it soon became apparent that would not be possible unless I wanted 20 shades of red!
Exterior
Following a full session by an experience PDR professional, the car was sent for a full glass out respray. Following its return some two months later I was able to reassemble. This was with all the original door, arch and tailgate trims but unfortunately not the front and rear bumper due to hair line cracks. The original glass was all reinstalled, which is all number plate etched other than the windscreen.
By this time the original wheels had been returned from being powder coated, and whilst I did have the original tyres form the late nineties, I thought it was prudent to fit a full set of new Goodyears.
Mechanicals
The local independent garage carried out a full review of the car replacing; drop links , track rods ends, driveshaft, wheel bearing, brake and fuel pipes , brake calliper rebuild , brake pads , all fluids and belts , all filters and I have probably missed something.
Interior
As you can see from the pictures, the interior is in excellent condition with all the bolsters correct and the original carpet is still a vibrant red. All interior panels are in excellent condition as is the roof lining.
Unfortunately, the only thing missing from the car when I purchased was the radio/ cassette. Fortunately, I managed to purchase from France a new old stock radio cassette which I believe is correct for the car.
Other
The car has full service history from new being registered at Davids of Ripon, Harrogate on 26th April 1989 to Miss K. P. Singleton , thus giving you the confidence of the mileage.
It has had only 6 owners in its 34 year life and has completed just over 140, 000 miles.
The car has only travelled 250 miles since its MOT in July 2023. That was its first since 2006.
The car when purchase was on multiple keys due to the fact that according to the previous owner it was stolen and recovered sometime in the mid to late nineties, but I have changed all the locks, so it is all on one key.
Summary
The car is an excellent quality original car which drives just as it should.
I am selling as I have a new project lined up and only have the space to store one car under cover. See picture.
I am offering for sale at less that renovation cost, so some lucky person is going to get a great deal on a car that they will not need to spend money on just enjoy.
