This beauty is a super rare 1970 RHD SO69/ 3 Stockholm model, which has been featured in David Eccles 'Volkswagen Camper and Commercial', magazine and is also an award winner, in 2018 it won the Robert Johnson Early Bay Award at Camper Jam. Having just 4 owners from new, it has been loved and cared for all its life. It came into the ownership of Sean and Julie Nugent , who are well known within the classic Volkswagen scene having long been passionate about Germany's finest. They previously restored a gorgeous splitscreen SO23 Westfalia which won the highly converted Splitscreen of the Year , so truly owning some very high standard VW's. Having such success with the Splitscreen they used the same process with their Early Bay, first taking it right back to bare metal, finding an incredibly solid van, testament to those dry days for most of its life in South Africa, from which it hailed . They then handed it over to master technician Paul Irving of Irv's Vintage Restorations to produce a paint finish that Volkswagen themselves would be proud of. Its finished in Delta Green L610, which is its original colour which was only produced for 2 years. As you can see by the pictures, the bodywork is simply stunning. Open the cab doors and you'll find its as good as new , with 3 seats upfront, having been reupholstered using the best materials available to replicate the original beige basket weave . Even the seat belts are original and sitting centre stage is the original radio. All the rubber seals have been replaced throughout and also the rear seat upholstery, lino , curtains and roof canvas, again all sourced from the best original copies. In this rare Stockholm model, which was regarded as the deluxe conversion, it has the kitchen unit running along the bulkhead, offering a sink, hob and replacing the old cool box is now a period looking 3 way fridge, together with a leisure battery and mains hook up for slightly more modern creature comforts. It boasts 2 wardrobes, a swing out table and plenty of storage. The rear seat folds down into a really comfortable double bed, whilst Sean added a slightly later Westfalia double bed in the elevating roof, for the nippers. This beautiful camper comes with the option to buy an amazing NOS original awning, for £750. Its an amazing find, the only thing missing was one pole which Sean has found a replacement for, so absolutely complete and perfect. Sean and Julie resisted the temptation to lower the bus or add fancy alloys, which would have been sacrilege, so it remains completely stock , running its standard 1600 twin port engine which runs like a swiss watch. All the brakes lines, master cylinder, shoes etc were replaced, new ball joints etc etc. The only thing that was added was a CSP front disc brake conversion, just for safety sake, together with a Firetec extinguisher installed in the engine bay. Although mot exempt, as with all of our vehicles it will have a brand new mot for the new owners. I sold this gorgeous camper about 2 years ago to the current owners, who absolutely love it & are now looking to further invest in rare classic Volkswagen scene, so are reluctantly letting this one go.
