Description
1980 Ford Press Fleet xr3, originally registered by the press office at Warley, I first bought the car in 2017 from an old gent who'd owned it since 1984 so 33 year ownership, he stored the car away in 1992 until 2017 when he eventually sold to me, it comes with all original hand books, stamped service book, all mot certificates from 83 to 93 when stored to back up the low mileage.
This car was originally press fleet owned and 1 of only 3 surviving cars to be used on the m4 promotional video so super rare with exceptional provenance, they say if you're collecting cars you should have the first or last... no ford xr cars predate this one being registered 21 11 1980 prior to the launch video being filmed on the 24th of that month
The car was professionally recommissioned in 2017 following its circa 25 year hibernation period, at the same time all components were refinished, total refresh of the engine, gearbox and running gear, the shell was in excellent condition due to being dry stored for such a long period, it retains all its original features including the red laser stripe seats which still present incredibly well, these cars were very highly optioned as they went on to be dealer demonstrator following their use by the press office, they all featured spotlamps, foglamps, factory sunroof, electric windows and central locking, upgrade stereo etc
TTW105W is a very period correct car, unique features such as early type door mirrors, single washer jet, 1980 stamped alloys, 4 speed gearbox, correct double digit rev counter etc, the spots are original carello 591 items and the early type washer bottle is still fitted
During it's recommission in 2017 the engine was fully rebuilt, new clutch, gear oil changed, full brake overhaul, new springs, wheel bearings x4, hand made stainless exhaust, the wheels were professionally refurbed and shod with 5 matching pirelli tyres so all in all a well sorted example, I have numerous pics before and after the work was done including pics of the chassis, floor pans etc to show that no welding was required, it was literally a mechanical overhaul
