DESCRIPTION
The Ford Escort XR3i is a hot hatch version of the third-generation Ford Escort, produced from 1983 to 1986. It was powered by a 1. 6-liter CVH engine with Bosch K-Jetronic fuel injection, producing 105 hp. The XR3i featured a number of performance upgrades over the standard Escort, including a five-speed manual transmission, lowered suspension, and larger brakes
EXTERNAL
Finished in Ford Sunburst Red(code P 1) the paintworks nothing short of stunning, with bright glossy uniformed panels that sit straight as they day the vehicle left the factory. With manual adjusted door mirrors in the very best of condition along with the colour coded rear capping’s. With front and rear aerodynamic spoilers in very good condition along with colour bumpers front and rear with black corner cappings, Over riders sitting straight and true. With original ‘sekurit’ stamped glass in all side windows along with the ‘sekurit’ stamped rear tinted screen
Originality remains with the ‘Hella H4’ factory fit front headlamps along with the original indicators and rear lights, Original door locks fitted throughout, Black fuel tank cap and rear wash-wipe

INTERNAL
Upon opening the drivers or passenger side doors you are exposed to the very rare and original 'Monza' and 'Crushed Grey Velour fabric trimmed sport seats with contrast red colour piping In the best of condition front and rear, Along with the Shark Grey deep pile carpet showing no signs of wear. The seating fabric showing no signs of fade or wear. The front seat bolsters stand proud and supportive.
With an anthracite headlining unmarked along with the Monza and Crushed Velour with red piping fabric door cards. The wind down windows work as expected. The manual tilt/ slide sunroof works as Ford intended along with the factory fit roof Quart's digital clock.
The dash sits crack and fade free in the very best of condition as to be expected with controls all working as they should including directional heater controls and 3-speed fan switch. Coin holder positioned neatly into the dash opens/ closes freely. With centre console ashtray and original cigarette lighter fitted.
Amazingly with the original Ford push button Radio/ Cassette in working condition. The smaller 2 spoke sports steering wheel fitted to the early models, Binnacles housing speedometer to the right, tachometer to the left, fuel and temperature gauge in the centre. Additional compulsory warning lights all function as intended. With rear heated screen switch and rear wash/ wipe all functioning correctly along with the front wiper speed control knob. Rear parcel shelf houses 'Radio mobile' original factory speakers.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
With having only 12366 miles from new this engine has had very little use, The 1600cc overhead cam petrol engine fitted will glide you to over 100mph if desired and will rev quite freely to 6000-rpm producing 105bhp. Hailed at the top of its game in the early 80’s and a hot hatch favourite with having a 5-speed gearbox fitted with remote shift ensuring smooth precise gear changes.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
With factory fit cloverleaf light cast alloys wheels in immaculate condition shod with Pirelli P6000 tyres all round with ample tread on them,
The spare retains a matching Alloy wheel with a Pirelli P6000 tyre also,

HISTORY FILE
Built by Ford in Germany in 1981 and registered by Ford to Mr D Sutcliffe of Shrewsbury on the 09-11-1982 who subsequently retained the vehicle for some six years until 1988, Mr Sutcliffe then sold the vehicle and another local purchased the vehicle a Mr Wells on the 08-09-1988 who retained the vehicle until 2019 some 31-years of ownership, A Mr Eades then took over the rains in 2024 however due to illness decided to let the car go and contacted JF CLASSIC CARS and we were only too happy to have it in the stable
This results in the vehicle having five former keepers and very low mileage, Having recently undertaken a moderate detailing by JF CLASSIC CARS pursuing underside and engine bay. The vehicle has wanted and does not want for anything.
