I’ve been lucky enough to own and ride this lovely machine and for the last 4 years it’s been the jewel in my garage.
However, circumstances change and I've made the decision to sell the RC along with my other machines as I’m no longer enjoying riding (medical reasons) and I’m not one for hanging onto stuff once I’ve made a decision.
I purchased the RC in June 2019 from a friend and well-respected figure in the RC30 community who owned the bike for the previous 19 years. A UK bike, 5 previous owners from new, low miles, lovely condition but not concours so probably not one for the purest or RC anorak.
Ohlins rear shock, currently fitted with an aftermarket exhaust can, dark screen and an aftermarket set of wheels (NC30 front, RC45 rear) whuch offer a better selection of tyre size, the original bits will be included in the sale with the exception of the standard shock which is no longer available. The bike was dyno’d and set up with the current can fitted which is a little fruitier than standard.
The frame has been very lightly polished at some point in its earlier life, there is no documented service record other than MOT’s and no tool kit or RC paddock stand so, if these things are important to you then I'd suggest this machine isn't for you. The paint shows some slight cracking under the seat backstop, I’ve captured this in one of the photos, this is something not uncommon with the RC so I’d rather describe this as patina however, let’s not forget this is a 34-year-old bike and it's been used and not kept as a show pony.
As stated, the previous owner is a well-respected contributor to the RC community, he still owns another RC30 which he built up from scratch, he is also very well established elsewhere on the classic motorcycle racing scene. Needless to say, he looks after his machines meticulously and this particular bike needed for nothing in his 19 years of ownership.
Prior to my ownership maintenance activities such as full carb rebuild, fuel tap replacement, replacement wheel bearings, servicing, fluid and filter changes etc were all completed at timely intervals using the correct and proper components, the engine has never been apart. I have very recently rebuilt the rear suspension linkage with new Honda bearings and seals replacing the downpipe gaskets during the re-install (slight play was an advisory at the MOT), there’s nothing further outstanding to be done.
I also have a number of spares components available that will be offered to the buyer such as a genuine low mileage RC crank, new conrods, a set of oversized pistons & rings. rear subframe, front fairing bracket/ frame.
