Description
A unique opportunity to purchase a fully restored 1962 Lambretta Li 125 in fantastic condition that has been on 'display' for over 20 years. Originally purchased as a project from a local dealer, this genuine Italian Lambretta Li 125 was restored 20 years ago. Since being restored it has never been ridden on the road, but has stood on 'display' in my 'summer house'.
I restored this scooter as a project. It was never my intention to ride it.
After having been completely stripped down it was professionally prepared and painted. If I remember correctly it was painted in an original Lambretta colour called Centurion White. It is in unbelievably good condition and you could be forgiven for thinking that it has only recently been restored. I have ensured that it has regularly been 'started' throughout the years. It readily starts up and ticks over perfectly.
During the rebuild (20 years ago), numerous new parts were fitted. However, all of the 'bodywork' parts are the original panels that were on the scooter when I purchased it. None needed replacing.
Some of the new parts fitted included: new wiring loom along with original style aluminium retaining straps, foot board rubbers and holders, Lambretta 'scripts' on side panels and front panels, rear Li 125 badge, ball end levers, seat cover, rear light, handle bar grips, exhaust and 'U' pipe, brake pedal rubber and brake switch, air filter, all cables, rear spring, white wall tyres etc. In fact most, if not all fittings were replaced with new.
The engine was professionally stripped and cleaned. Whilst the engine was stripped down electronic ignition was fitted. The engine was 'rebored' and a 'piston kit (125cc 52. 9mm) fitted. Crank bearings replaced. Complete oil seal set and gasket set fitted. Please see photos for complete list of parts replaced and engine work done (original receipts).
Please note IMPORTANT: whilst the tyres still appear virtually as new, they are date coded 2002 so will require replacing should you want to make the scooter road worthy.
Following it's MOT in 2003 (43, 398 kms) it has sat on 'display' in my summer house. The speedometer is now showing 43, 400 kms. Only 2 kms in 20 years! Periodically I have started it and let it run for a while. Everything works exactly as it should. Most recently I have replaced the clutch inner and outer cable as it began to feel a little stiff to operate. I have also replaced the exhaust and 'U' pipe.
Around a month ago whilst preparing the scooter for advertising I noticed a small petrol leak from the carburettor. I have since fitted a brand new carburettor 'body' and seal kit/ needle valve.
Around 18 months ago I removed the petrol tank and thoroughly cleaned/ treated with POR15 (chemical petrol tank treatment). The inside of the tank looks absolutely as new now. Since then I have not put fuel in the tank in order to protect it whilst the scooter is 'standing'. Since then I have used an 'outside' fuel supply to allow me to be able to still 'run' the scooter occasionally. New 'stainless steel' straps were fitted when I refitted the fuel tank.
The photos will show the scooter in two different scooter 'styles'. Retro and Mod. Retro 'style' with the original spare wheel holder fitted (this was on the scooter when I purchased it), and secondly the 'mod' look that I actually prefer. All fittings shown in the photos are included. Currently the scooter has all the 'chrome' accessories fitted, although these are easily removed if preferred.
The 'chrome' 3 in 1 back rest/ spare wheel holder, rear crash bar and front rack are all around 20 years old but all present really well as does the front mudguard protector. In fact they look virtually brand new.
Hopefully the photos will show you exactly how nice this scooter actually is. It looks fantastic. Underneath is equally as good.
The paintwork is virtually flawless.
The only negatives are two very small (approximately 5mm) defects in the paint on the side panels that are only visible upon really close inspection. One side panel has a very small area of minor 'micro blistering'. Neither of these 'faults' detract from the look of the scooter in any way.
There is absolutely no 'rust' anywhere.
This must be one of the nicest Lambretta's available for sale.
Currently on sorn, I properly registered the scooter around 3 years ago. I have the V5 in my name and a Lambretta Club of Great Britain authentication letter. I have its last MOT certificate issued 20th May 2003
This scooter is virtually flawless. For a 20 year old restoration the condition is absolutely unbelievable.
I do have some 'old' fashioned photos of the scooter prior to restoration. Some as I bought it, and some in its 'stripped' down condition prior to restoration.
