This is a 1952 Lea Francis Tourer, she originally started life as a Saloon car and has been restored and rebuilt into what is now a large and very comfortable 4 seat tourer, full weather gear, stowed neatly into a rear compartment.
These cars were coach built and of high quality she has a well documented history and write up in the in the Lea Francis Owners club. This is a matching numbers car.
She runs a 1767 twin Cam engine. The engine was overhauled with new inlet camshaft, head gasket with the face being skimmed, New core plugs. Good Oil pressure. I have recently carried out further work on the electrical side with a new Distributor, points, plugs, leads.
The restoration and rebuilding of the car was undertaken between 2001 and 2011 with photographic evidence.
The body was rebuilt with a new frame, re constructed suicide doors etc and clad in 1mm Aluminium and as you can see looks very attractive. A new Hood, Side Screens, re wire with modern and semiphore trafficators and a re paint in Green (remember this took 10 years so the actual work is a little more detailed).
I bought the car in 2021 and it had done little mileage apparent by the fact that the brake cylinders were seized. I undertook a full brake overhaul, new refurbished kevelar coated tank, rear repaint, tune and full detailed engine condition report by AG Classics, with a clean bill of health, she is now used, completing the Beamish reliability run and the Holme 100, reliable and goes really well.
The only thing wrong is that the speedo is a bit temperamental in that it won’t work for a mile and then comes to life, evidently the magnets need a clean.
This is a great touring car, and one that i have enjoyed, but my reason for sale is that i have a 1925 Lea Francis. I like Vintage cars therefore this is too modern and i am looking for another vintage car of the 20's or 30's and one that is capable of being driven longer distances than my other car. WHY, quite prepared to part exchange with cash either way.
