Description
I’m selling this CX as I have two others which are taking up too much of my time and garage space. It is sold as a non-runner as it has been stored for a number of years (in my garage since I bought it). However, I did drive it ten miles or so last week in fairly heavy traffic to where it’s stored now in Finchley, London N3. The engine is a bit rough and the fuel tank probably needs cleaning out as the petrol smelt stale. In fact, when I took the photos yesterday, I couldn’t get the engine to run for more than a couple of seconds. It has very low mileage (52k), which, looking at the history and the amazing condition of the interior, I believe to be genuine. Although the boot floor, cills, underneath and roof appear very solid, there is rust on the bodywork in all the usual CX places (on the bonnet above the headlights, at the lower windscreen corners, the bottoms of a couple of doors, around the fuel filler flap and at the base of the bootlid, and battery tray).
I re-imported this rare car from Ireland in 2020 where it had been sent from England in 2009. It featured in the March 2009 edition of the Citroënian magazine where it was described, at 41, 000 miles, to be in outstanding condition. It appears to have been neglected somewhat since 2009 and probably stored outside.
Despite the engine sounding gruff and the starter motor being noisy, the car was pleasant to drive last week and the suspension, gearbox, steering and brakes worked satisfactorily. The wheels have been powder-coated and the tyres are Michelin classics which look old but have little wear. The car needs some love and time spending on it to re-commission it. I would suggest the buyer arranges to collect it by trailer. I can help with loading.
Please look at the photos. The interior is in amazingly pristine condition. The seats, switches and controls, dashboard, etc are incredible for a car this age. This is a rare, low mileage car in an extremely handsome colour combination. In need of recommissioning and restoration.
