The AP-1 was the first guise of Honda’ iconic S2000 roadster. The cars offer classic naturally aspirated VTEC power and rear wheel drive with comfort and reliability. Honda as usual managed to fetch more than 100bhp per litre combined with that legendary high rev limit. Unlike some other cars from its class and era, the Honda looks have aged well and prices are gradually climbing. This example is a JDM import and was converted to miles when it arrived in the country at which point it read 15, 195 miles in 2004.

We have known this car for some time as it has attended a couple of our trackdays in the past and the current owner has had the car since 2017. It really stands out in the paddock with satin black side stripes, a little aero and those classic GramLight wheels. It has a number of performance enhancements to match the more aggressive looks as well. Engine modifications include an ME221 ECU tuned at Motorsport Electronics, Spoon N1 Exhaust System and aftermarket induction. This is support by a baffled sump and larger alloy radiator to keep things in check. The car also features an Eibach Pro Kit, uprated discs, braided lines with Dixcel pads, the Gramlights are Wrapped in Michelin Pilot Sport tyres.

In its current ownership, mechanical maintenance has been meticulous with services being carried out twice a year using good quality parts and fluids. Amongst other things it has had a clutch kit, Nachi bearing and master cylinder. A new mohair roof and rear glass were fitted in 2020 as well as a genuine windscreen. In April 2021 the car received fabrication work to rectify rust on the sills and strut tops. The interior presents really well for a 23-year-old car, when you jump in you are welcomed by the unique digital dash and supportive seats. The body and paint do show age related marks representative of a car that has been enjoyed but it remains a brilliant looking car.

The sale includes two sets of keys, the link cable for ECU mapping and an extensive service history including a service plan from current ownership and a folder of receipts from service and aftermarket parts as well as old MOT’s.
