1973 Datsun 260Z - RLS30 2 seat coupe.
The base for this restoration was a completely rust free lhd car from California with all original factory body and panelwork, never welded with all factory welds still in place. It was taken back to bare metal and repainted in Grigio Titanio (grey metallic) which shows off the S30 classic lines to great effect.
It has been a project over the last couple of years and built up by a seasoned S30 enthusiast/ specialist/ hill climb sprinter who knows these cars well. Components were sourced to carry out a RHD conversion and many new parts fitted during the restoration including alloys, bumpers, stainless exhaust, carbs, radiator, starter, distributor, coil, battery, windscreen, carpets, seats, vinyl trim etc etc.
L28 2. 8 litre engine is fuelled by twin HIF44 SU carbs specifically engineered for the L series engine as an upgrade on the Hitachi SUs
It shows great compression on all cylinders and runs particularly strongly. All unnecessary US emission gear has been eliminated and it is now very quick for a standard.. ish engine.
Gearbox is the original 4 speed unit as standard fit in the US market and suits the power band on this car really well.
You simply will not find a Datsun Z with a better original body than this car and now has the added benefit of RHD, best of both worlds.
As a Datsun enthusiast with too many other S30/ S130 cars around I need to thin out the collection hence sale.
