VAUXHALL VIVA HC 1973 CAT2 HISTORIC RALLY CAR

The car was built in 2021/ 22 from a bare shell to a very high specification for the purpose of entering Historic Regularity Rallies. There has been a great deal of effort carried out on the preparation of the shell, and during the build, to ensure that the car can easily be upgraded to being a fully sorted CAT 2 Historic Stage Rally Car. A spares package for this upgrade is available at extra cost if desired. The 2300cc engine has lots of torque and produces around 130 bhp making the car enjoyable to drive.

Shell:
Stripped back to a bare shell with underseal removed.
Front chassis rails plated and seam welded to strengthen the shell according to Vauxhall period specification.
Sandblasted and rustproofed with Body Shutz.
Safety Devices bolt-in historic specification roll cage with removable door bars.
Fireproofed front and rear bulkhead.
All cavities have been wax oiled and the shell is painted in Vauxhall Glazier White.

Engine:
The 2279cc Slant 4 single cam engine is freshly rebuilt and has around 130 bhp giving an excellent torque.
New big-end and mains crankshaft bearings with a balanced and lightened flywheel by Questmead.
Gas flowed stage 2 cylinder head with an increased compression ratio.
Lucas Distributor with Lumenition Electronic Ignition.
Twin SU HS6 Carburettors with conical air filters.
Twin Facet Red Top Electric fuel pumps with fuel filter / pressure regulator.
Twin Ignition coils.
Heavy duty starter motor.
75amp Alternator

Cooling System:
Firenza/ Magnum Radiator.
Separate Electric Cooling Fan.

Suspension & Steering:
Strengthened Front Crossmember to ex-works specification and modified for heavy duty Ford Escort engine mountings.
Skidded and strengthened Ventora front bottom arms using Opel Manta ball joints.
Strengthened negative Camber top arms.
Heavy Duty front dampers and uprated springs front and rear.
Ventora Front hubs.
2. 5 Turns high ratio steering rack & HPF Steering Arms.
Strengthened rear lower arms with poly Bushes.

Brakes:
Front M16 Callipers with vented HPF discs.
Ford Capri 3. 0Ltr 9inch diameter rear brake drums.
Dual circuit master cylinders.
All lines routed through the car
Hydraulic handbrake (with Ford Sierra handbrake cable linkage as required for MOT).

Transmission:
Heavy Duty single plate Competition Clutch fully balanced by Questmead.
Close Ratio Ford Rocket Gearbox with Quaife close ratio Heavy Duty Gear kit and Quickshift. (Built by Ian Jamieson).
Bellhousing modified for quick release.
Single piece heavy duty propshaft
Salisbury 4HA axle with 4. 54 CWP and Powr-loc plated LSD. (Built by Ian Jamieson).

Interior/ Safety:
Sparco EVO Seats mounted upon competition rails and Willans 4 point harness (Out of date).
Hand held extinguisher to MSA regulations.
Works type fascia upper cowling for both driver and passenger.
Sparco steering wheel.
Brantz Pro 2 International tripmeter and BR32V2 time clock.
Bespoke competition wiring loom with fused links.
Laminated windscreen.
GP4 Fabrications alloy fuel tank.
Battery re-located in the boot.
2 Cibie Super Oscar driving lamps.
Alloy sump guard.
12 Ford Supersport 13x6Jinch wheels giving a choice of gravel or asphalt tyres.
