SOLD - Very solid 1997 3rd generation W140 S280 in metallic blue with cream leather interior and dashboard with only just over 73K miles on the clock. It has recently passed its MOT (now valid until 21st Oct 2024).
I’ve owned the car for the last 5 years and it’s been a reliable daily driver. It was meant to be a restoration project, but - due to the fact that I have 4 other ‘80s/‘90s Mercs (plus now a company car) - I unfortunately have to let this one go. The car is very solid, reliable, and the interior is in excellent conditions. The body is however showing its age with corrosion on the wheelarches, a minor dent or the rear offside door, and some scuffs/ scratches elsewhere. There are also minor faults such as the driver’s electric adjustment or the suction for the soft close.
I would hate to see it going to a breaker as it still drives superbly. I’ve recently driven it 500+ miles to London and back since it’s far more comfortable than my top-of-the-range company Volvo XC60 (…if it were to be broken up, the engine would go for £1. 5-2K, the interior seats, dashboard, and trimmings for a similar amount, plus more for the wheels, doors, transmission, etc. so there’s easily £4-5K in resale value for a breaker).
Looking for £975 but will consider any serious offers.
