Beschreibung

1963 Morris Minor 1000 2-Door Saloon in Old English White.

I believe this is a ‘deluxe’ model as it has a two-tone red and cream interior which was only produced for a relatively short time.

57, 610 miles with extensive and interesting history.

Registered 24th October 1963 and taken delivery of 2 days later in Hampshire 26th October 1963, kept by the same family (2 owners) for over 30 years. It was taken to France almost immediately from new and was used throughout the next 15 years and covered 45, 000 miles between 1963 and 1977, whilst living in the South of France, Zurich and Geneva. The 2 x history files with the car show that it was regularly maintained, repaired and serviced throughout.

It was driven a further 11, 000 miles between 1978 and 2000 before being stored for the next 20 or so years with a mileage of 56, 500. Since being sold on by its original owners the car has only had one additional owner prior to me.

Here is a summary of what I’ve done, how the car goes and my best effort to describe the car.

All new tyres and new inner tubes.
Radiator drained, flushed, re-filled with new coolant. It has never overheated whilst I’ve had it.
Engine oil clean, basic service items all checked, plugs, leads, distributer etc all good, engine starts very well.
I fitted an additional second Earth lead from the battery directly to the engine block after doing some research online and this definitely improved the earth connection and helped as the starter motor now spins faster.
New fan belt.
The car starts and runs beautifully, sounds good, does not smoke and produces power exactly as you would expect.
Brakes all overhauled, some new parts, handbrake balance adjusted, and it stops very well and pulls up lovely and straight.
I have done a lot of small jobs in the interior to clean it and tidy it up but avoided anything that would detract from its natural character.
New pedal rubbers.
New pair of classic mini style seat belts with chrome buckles.
Clutch and gearbox all work fine and changes gear smoothly (no synchro on first gear).
Carpets, seats, roof-lining, door panels and interior generally all in lovely condition.
Structurally all appears solid underneath and has been under-sealed.
Although MOT exempt the car was taken and passed an MOT on 17th May this year with NO ADVISORIES.

Here are the things I would say will/ might need attention depending how good you want the car to be and how you intend to use it.
The heater and fan don’t work. I haven’t got around to looking at them as I have only driven the car locally in dry and warm(ish) weather so it hasn’t bothered me.
The window wipers both work but there is an issue. They are meant to both sweep out from their rest position in opposite directions but they both turn the same way for some reason. I don’t know if it’s the wrong motor, wiring connections or something else that is at fault but I doubt that it’s something very complicated.
Both doors have some rust on the underneath along the bottom, both repairable.
The paintwork has lots of small defects, paint chips, surface rust patches due to natural age and wear and tear but there are no obvious holes or badly corroded areas, and I don’t believe any of the main panels would need to be replaced.

The car comes with two ring binders full of receipts and invoices for servicing and repairs, and includes original documents from new including a dated delivery document for its original purchase, insurance applications and correspondence for taking the car abroad, ‘green cards’, repairs, servicing etc, and many other interesting documents and hand written letters.

The car can easily be used on the road as it is and will no doubt last for many years to come, or if it is fully re-painted this would take it to another level. With the car’s interesting and extensive history I believe this would be well worth doing for an enthusiast but it would lose its current patina and aged look which I prefer personally.

Registered as an historic vehicle so is tax exempt.

Reluctant sale, I like and wanted to keep this car but I don’t have the spare garage space to keep it. At 60 years old I think it deserves to be kept somewhere dry and I don’t want to keep it myself if it means being left out through the winter weather.

Collection from my home address in North Lincolnshire. I can arrange trailer delivery at cost anywhere in the country, but I would prefer anyone interested to come and view the car in person first for obvious reasons.

Thanks for looking.
