Description

1994 Jaguar XJ6 - Excellent condition

Here we have my have my XJ6, which I have owned for just over a year, recommissioned, spent a lot, enjoyed it and now want to sell on to fund another project. I have set out below an honest view of the car, what I've done to it, the good bits and the bad bits. Any questions please contact me and any visit welcome - I am in Atherstone, close to Jct. 10 of the M42.

Overview
I acquired the car unseen from Matthewsons Auctions as a replacement for my Mercedes W124. It came with an MOT but needed some attention. The attraction was its very low mileage. It has had nearly £5, 000 spent on it this year, whilst also being used as my daily car. It was re-MOT'd on the 2nd November so has nearly a full year's ticket.

The car is the Gold version, which was the run-out model for the XJ6 / XJ40 model it has the 3. 2 litre straight six, full leather interior. I have the original bill of sale, sales brochure and owners manual, along with a host of paperwork. This car is metallic Kingfisher Blue with magnolia cream leather and burr walnut interior. An updated Bluetooth radio has been installed but the original Jaguar tape player is included.

Good Bits & Work Done
The very low mileage of 46, 00 is backed up with the MOT history, which I have. The car was Scotland based until I purchased it last year. It presents itself very well with everything working, and an immaculate interior (driver's seat worn). Work I have done on the car with photographic record and sales receipts, includes:

Mechanically:
• Full service, oil, filters etc, suspension greased
• full coolant flush and new antifreeze
• new front discs and pads
• new rear discs and pads
• new ignition module
• new crank position sensor - these are known to fail.
• new rotor arm
• new battery
Bodywork
• New boot rubber and fuel filler rubber - this stopped water ingress into the boot
• 2 x new rear light lens
• 4 x new headlights
• new bonnet rubber
• new front grill
• new (SH) front and rear bumpers
• new windscreen
• refurbished polished diamond cut 16" Kiwi alloy wheels
• One of the most expensive areas of work was some localised rust and a lower half re-spray. This included removing the windscreen to undertake some welding to the windscreen pillar and scuttle. The front wings have been replaced (they rot by the bumper bracket) + two small areas in the rear wheel arches and one patch on the boot floor. There were a few age related knocks and scrapes hence, following the welding I had the lower half (from the coachline) resprayed. This together with the new bumpers, rubbers, polished wheels and new lights means she looks great now.

Interior:
• full valet and seat clean
• new set of overmats
• radio replaced with Sony Bluetooth radio
• New lighting logic pack as headlight main beam was faulty
• replacement window switches x 2
• Walnut door cappings stripped and recoated
• electric seat drive and switch replaced on drivers side

There are a very small number of minor niggles that a new owner may want to address these include: the central locking works but cannot be unlocked from the driver's side. The boot lid has two very minor dents where the boot has, at some point been shut on something sharp. There is a very very minor section on the top of the rear wing where the lacquer has started to peal (10p piece size). The rear shocks are likely to need the bushes replacing - not an mot failure but over speed bumps there is a slight clonk. None of these detract from the car , I just want to give an honest opinion.

With the original purchase price and the work done, the car has cost me £8, 000. I am looking for offers over £4, 500. Please contact me for more details and come and have a look.

Cash on collection or bank transfer. I acquired the car unseen from Matthewsons Auctions as a replacement for my Mercedes W124. It came with an MOT but needed some attention. Everything works - a great modern classic that can be used daily.
