Early E34 BMW 5 series, 84, 000 miles on the clock, MOT til November 2024, service history from 2007 onwards.
I brought this during lockdown 2020 intending only to keep it a short while; it's been my most dependable car in that time and probably the best all-round car I've owned (comfort, handling, looks, power just right (not too little - or too much!) ) so I'm sure it won't take me long to regret selling it but for some reason I'm committed to accumulating 80s Nissan shoeboxes and there's only so much time/ energy/ cash/ SPACE to go around!
I believe the car was owned by a London businessman for most of its existence, changing hands a couple of times since 2019; some (much?) of its life being spent in an underground carpark, so it's in decent exterior shape (a few chips/ small dents you have to be up close to see; as you'd expect for a 35 year old car). It was also undersealed early in its life so no major corrosion issues evident (plus I'm told by a specialist the earlier cars were better made and this one's condition is a good example of that!). As far as I know it's all original other than an aftermarket CD player/ radio. It's been reliable and not too expensive to run for me over the last 3 years, minor 'old car' issues will occur of course but the M30B30 engine with only 84k miles on it should last as long as petrol cars themselves are a 'thing'. Some small issues with trim could be improved a bit (eg steering wheel is rubbed, glovebox not working well; a few minor electrical things occur here and there e. g. digital clock display has a few temperamental segments; biggest would be the sunroof was welded shut in the past so would need work if wanted to reopen it). Only majorish 'extra-curricular' item I'd anticipate doing in the year ahead is replacing the tyres as they're a bit past it.
The car is located near Oxford (Abingdon), viewing welcome, and I would have confidence driving it away to anywhere in the country.
