This lovely little MGA1600 is my wife’s car and she bought it in 2014 from the son-in-law of the original American owner who sadly past away. He bought it new in 1960. It left the factory LHD and was as now red with black interior, he did have it repainted metallic green in the 1970s, it was repainted back to a Red in 2013 before being brought back to England. We bought it and registered it, We also had it converted to RHD, replaced the black vinyl interior with new black leather along with new carpets. We have enjoyed it very much over the last 9 years and in November we had it MOTed again as it had not had one for a few years being MOT exempt. It had new brake pipes 2 new tyres and a new full length stainless steel exhaust system fitted. We also had 2 wings repainted as they both had blemishes.
The car is in very good condition and just needs using. The hood is a pain in the bum to put up and down but does keep the rain out if you can get it up in time. We tend to keep it with the hood down with an umbrella in the boot! It also has side screens but being from America does not have a heater. So a summer car really. The fuel gauge does not work and when I last tried to buy a new one they were not available.
The only reason we are selling is that my wife has now bought an almost New BMW Z4. And as I have a classic Merc SL the MG is just not getting used enough to justify keeping it.
