Available on behalf of one of our Clients. A Ford Escort XR3i Cabriolet finished in Radiant Red with grey cloth upholstery.
The exterior Radiant Red paintwork presents very well, with minor age related imperfections. The hood is in excellent condition, free from fading and any obvious damage. The tonneau is present and in similarly good condition. The windows all sport their original registration etchings. Alloy wheels look to be original and are wrapped in four Avon tyres, with a spare is a matching alloy.
The engine bay and under carriage are in great condition and have had extensive works undertaken and cleaning and for a near show condition.
The interior appears to be in standard specification, including what we believe to be the original stereo. The plastics present well although there is a little wear to the door pulls. The seats and carpets are all clean, the latter being protected by a set of mats.
The car drives great and would be a great summer car or one to take to shows.
The vehicle has been kept in climate controlled, managed storage since works have been undertaken. Originally supplied by Radmore’s of Tavistock and registered in December 1990, making it one of the last Mk4 Escorts. The service book shows 9 service stamps, all from Ford dealerships.
Thereafter, work is recorded in a sheaf of invoices. Notable is an invoice for £1, 600 dating back to July 2021 when, amongst other jobs, it received a newly skimmed cylinder head, new cylinder head gasket, new camshaft and tappets, new cambelt, new oil and water pumps, new spark plugs and had the clutch replaced. At the same time, the engine bay was tidied, the rocker cover powder coated and the manifolds vapour blasted.
At some stage (probably around 94, 000 miles according to MOTs) the instrument pack was replaced and the current odometer records around 35, 000 miles, although the car has done very little mileage since the engine work was completed.
